Types of on going Experiments Include
Why do we attempt to use Trigger Objects during an investigation?
Trigger Objects are another form of spirit communication, why do we do EVP (electronic voice phenonena) work or seances, we are trying to communicate with the other side using objects instead of verbal communication. The objects we're using are similar items that the spirit can relate to, items that have moved unexplainably at one point or another in the locations history.
Using Trigger Objects
In the beginning of almost every investigation our group will experiment with trigger objects. This is a simple experiment that can be executed by any investigation group as long as documented steps have been taken. You start by getting a piece of graph paper, black mat with chalk, also baby powder in a tray with the trigger object gently placed on it are all potentially effective
methods. I have used objects like a remote control, keys, dog bones, bells, dolls, a glass of whisky and most of you know my famous beach ball! For those of you reading this and wondering what I’m talking about I will use the beach ball in a location where children spirits have been reported. The theory behind this object is it’s large enough to see at a distance, it’s light enough to move and it’s very colourful. What child wouldn’t want to attempt to move it?
You also want to use objects similar to any that have moved in the past, specifically an object the spirits could relate to, example, if we were in a hotel room where objects moved we would likely use the remote control, if that object has been reported to have moved unexplainably.
Once you have chosen your object draw around the object and photograph it’s placement carefully no matter what method you choose to use. This is where a digital camera comes in take 10-20 photographs at multiple angles of your object or objects. Leave the room secure by making sure all windows and doors are locked no drafts around your object that could give you false results. Also make sure you have a second investigator with you during these steps for verification. I leave a tape and video recorder with the object to see if I can capture the movement or sound of the object moving.
When using a video camera in the room try hiding your camera in a box or inside a gift bag.
